How to Register to Vote in Clark County, Arkansas

In order to vote in Arkansas, you have to register at least one month before the election. For the November 2022 election (when I’ll be on the ballot), the deadline is the 11th of October. Don’t worry, because registering to vote is easy and should only take a few minutes of your time! It’s well worth making your voice heard. If you’ve changed your name or moved to another address, you’ll have to re-register (it doesn’t fix itself automatically when you get married or divorced!)

How to Check if You’re Registered to Vote

Even if you think you’re registered to vote, you should always check just in case! I’ve known people who were purged from the voter rolls. Thankfully, it’s easy to re-register!

You can check if you’re registered to vote here. Just put in your first name, last name, and date of birth, then click “Look Up”. Don’t worry, it’s a government website, so your personal information is safe! If it says, “No Matching Registrants” and everything is spelled correctly, you’re not registered to vote. Keep in mind that you may still be registered under a previous name.

If it shows your name, address, party, etc. then you are registered to vote, but make sure everything is accurate! If something’s incorrect or outdated, don’t worry, because you can fix that by re-registering!

Am I Eligible to Vote?

Before registering to vote, make sure you’re eligible. In Arkansas, you have to:

  • Be a United States citizen
  • Be at least 18 years old (17 year-olds can register to vote if they’ll be 18 on election day!)
  • Not be a felon, or have your rights restored (more on that later)
  • Not be judged mentally incompetent by a court of law

How to Register to Vote in Person

You can register to vote in person at the Clark County Clerk’s office (401 Clay Street, Arkadelphia), a public library, the DMV, or a voter registration drive. The closest option to Amity would be the DMV in Glenwood. If you don’t have an ID yet, this is a good time to get one. Make sure to bring proof of identity, name change, etc.

How to Register to Vote via Mail

Get Loud Arkansas has an online tool you can quickly and easily use to fill out a voter registration form. After you’re done, you can either print it yourself or have a copy mailed to you, which will then need to be signed and mailed to your County Clerk.

If you’re registering to vote for the first time, you’ll need to include a photo copy of your driver’s license, state ID, or a utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, or government document that shows your name and address. If you don’t provide any of these, you’ll be asked for them when you vote for the first time. If you’re updating your name, you’ll also need to include proof of that.

Clark County citizens can mail their form to:
Mona Vance
401 Clay St
Arkadelphia AR 71923

How Can Felons Get Their Right to Vote Back?

In Arkansas, felons can get their right to vote back, if they:

  • Served their time
  • Finished probation and parole
  • Paid all fines, fees, etc.
  • Satisfied all other conditions of imprisonment
  • And submit proof of all of the above to the County Clerk

How Do I Know If My Application was Successful?

You should receive a voter card in the mail from the County Clerk, which can take a few weeks to arrive. You’ll need to bring this with you to the polls. If you have any questions or concerns, you can call the Clark County Clerk’s office at (870) 246-4491.
